The purpose of the study is to identify the problems and contradictions of the positive transformation of healthy lifestyle practices among elderly Russians in order to improve targeted work to extend the professional and social activity of older citizens.
Research methods. The theoretical basis was the study of social practices that consider the integration of behavior models in the field of healthy lifestyle. The empirical study was conducted in 2024 in the Belgorod region using a questionnaire survey of older people (N = 697).
The sample was a multi-stage quota sample, formed according to the place of residence, age, gender, cohabitation or single residence.
The scientific problem is the feasibility of improving targeted work to extend the professional and social activity of older citizens of the study, but the lack of scientific substantiation of specific problems and contradictions of the positive transformation of healthy lifestyle practices among older Russians.
As a result of the study, a two-level system of problems existing in a healthy lifestyle among representatives of the older generation was built: 1) social level; 2) individual-group level. Contradictions were found: 1) many problems that elderly people have, on the one hand, are a consequence of the lack of a healthy lifestyle, and on the other hand, its lack of formation is the cause of an objective deterioration in the health and subjective well-being of citizens; 2) established socio-cultural norms are in serious conflict with the interests of modern elderly Russians.
