Narratives of historical memory and their interpretation in the post-soviet space

The purpose is to consider the peculiarities of the transformation of historical memory as a contradictory and diverse phenomenon in the interpretation of the events of the past in the foreign policy dimension. The subject of the study is the types of policies implemented to preserve historical memory in the Russian Federation and the fourteen former republics of the USSR.
Research methods. Based on the analysis of the meanings in the implemented memory policies and the motivation of state and non-state institutions in the reassembly of the common history of the past of the former Soviet republics, an understanding of the transformation of narratives is presented. There are several types of implemented state policy for the preservation of historical memory in the countries of the post-Soviet space.
The results of the study. An analysis of the processes of transformation of historical politics in the countries of the former USSR has shown that the implemented policies of the post-Soviet states carried out activities in different directions, defining new symbols, meanings and narratives. The article describes the trend of transformation of memory policy in a number of post-Soviet republics, leveling the monuments of the Soviet period, preventing the introduction of new political meanings and symbols. It is noted that in the countries of the former USSR, symbols of the Soviet era, which had lost their political meaning, were forgotten.
Among the reasons that produce a change in the ideas about dynamics of the correlation of historical knowledge, the author points out: a departure from the principles of historicism, the spread of digital noumenal and phenomenal cultures, the formation of national versions of the historical past, based mainly on political mythology. It is noted that the Russian Federation generally adhered to the principle of historical objectivity, accurate and verified narratives of the past, using them to form a civic identity and state policy of memory.
