Modern Russian-German relations in the context of alternative theories of globalization

The purpose of the work is to empirically identify and theoretically comprehend the global political, economic and cultural factors that determine the structure and dynamics of modern Russian-German interaction. Today, the nation-state is under twofold pressure - from international institutions in the broadest sense of the word and from the rapidly changing structures of everyday life.
The research is based on the application of comparative and empirical methods, formalization and modeling, as well as on the fundamental and applied achievements of the theory of international relations. The methodology of work is determined by the tasks of verification of existing models of globalization.
The author shows that today all the main paradigms of international studies recognize the presence of acute challenges to state sovereignty, although they interpret their nature in different ways. On the other hand, processes of interpenetration of various lifestyles are constantly going on at the local level.
It is noted that in the modern world, many political and economic processes acquire a virtual dimension or even completely lose their geographic reference. It also calls into question traditional power structures and life patterns.
As a result of studying the problem on the material of the current German-Russian contradictions, it is concluded that today any bilateral interaction is largely determined by factors that are beyond the control of its participants. Accordingly, science should form a realistic vision of national diplomacy and indicate ways for its constructive adaptation to new international political conditions.
