Values and meanings of patriotism in the political agenda of modern Russia

The purpose of the study is to analyze the value-semantic foundations of patriotism and their manifestations in the political landscape of modern Russia. Research methods. The oretical analysis of foreign and Russian literature allowed us to evaluate the conceptual content of the definitions of "patriotism", "identity (national and civic)", "nationalism", "symbolic politics". The forecasting method involved defining scenario vectors for Russia's development. The pilot study allowed us to conclude that the majority of respondents are patriotic towards their country and are ready to respect its historical traditions, state symbols and patriotic media resources. However, a certain group of respondents experience internal contradictions or dissatisfaction with their country. The overall picture shows a complex balance between pride in national identity and the real challenges faced by citizens.
The study is based on the conceptual approaches of M. Weber (normative-value concept), T. Parsons (social action model), A. Etzioni (paradigm of "political unification"), P. Bourdieu (social capital and social fields), J. Habermas (constitutional patriotism), A. Tajfel, J. Turner, M. Hogg and D. Abrams (social identity theory), O.Yu. Malinova (macropolitical identity theory). The subject of the study consists in values and meanings of patriotism in the political agenda of modern Russia.
Research objectives. To trace the evolution of patriotism in the development of the foundations of civic identity. To analyze patriotism and symbolic politics as constructs of all-Russian civic consolidation. To determine the challenges of patriotism in modern conditions.
Research results. Patriotism is the most important factor in the formation of all-Russian civic identity, determining the future of the state and its sustainability. It affects the political and social situation, as well as the psychological state of citizens. Patriotism is considered a fundamental element of identity based on the triad "politics-pride-public opinion". The vector and depth of patriotic sentiments in society are determined by the actions and statements of leaders, their ability to convey certain values and ideals. Patriotism becomes a logical consequence of a positive assessment of the work of public authorities. This objectifies the relevance of the system of relations: "social trust-civic activity-civic identity-patriotism".
As part of the implementation of symbolic policy and the policy of forming a national identity, the state must create a pool of new public opinion leaders (activists, youth public organizations and movements) taking into account generational value orientations.
Two scenario vectors of Russia's development are defined: positive (national integrity, achievement of National Development Goals, objectives of strategic program documents) and negative (the disintegration of Russia into separate quasi-states, confrontation and wars for resources, identity issues).
